It was just south of Dar es Salaam where our truck was stopped by guys in balaclavas carrying guns and machetes. They shot at us, hit us with machetes, and robbed us. Thankfully nobody was too seriously injured.
In the image below, the little white spots in the ceiling of the truck are bullet holes, where they stood on the ground and shot up between our heads.
We all had a swim in the river next to our camp site. Later we were told not to go into the river as there had been a hippo swimming in there earlier in the day.
